The gentle sprinter
The Whippet is a sighthound in miniature — a true racing dog that can reach close to 56 km/h in a few short strides. Yet the breed's defining trait is contrast: explosive outdoors, and indoors one of the calmest, quietest companions a home can keep.
Affectionate and deeply people-bound, Whippets bond closely with their family, are gentle with children, and rarely bark. They ask for little — a daily sprint, a soft place to land, and the company of the people they love.

“A whippet is a coiled spring — still and serene, until the moment it isn't.”

A Whippet wears a single, paper-thin coat over almost no body fat. It is one of the few breeds for which a coat is not an accessory but genuine care — they chill quickly in autumn wind, winter cold and even cool indoor evenings.
Grooming, by contrast, asks almost nothing: minimal shedding and an occasional wipe-down. Mind the thin skin on walks. In short — this is the breed Paws of Europe was, in many ways, made for.
Whippets are sensitive and quick to read a mood. They respond beautifully to calm, positive, reward-based training — and shut down under harsh correction. Keep sessions short and kind.
They are intelligent but independent; a sighthound was never bred to take orders the way a collie was. The real work is recall — a strong prey drive means a secure garden and a reliable “come” matter more than any trick.
Three Paws of Europe pieces chosen for a dog that needs real warmth — cut slim, for a deep chest and a fine frame.
